Dancing in The Rain
3 September 2026
A journey through the seasons of loss and renewal — from dancing alone in October rain to finding shelter together.
Lyrics
Rain on the window, Leaves on the road. Another year turning — Where it goes, nobody knows. First leaves pressed against the glass, October traffic rolling past. I took the long way through the square, Still half-believing you'd be there. An old song played from someone's car; I stopped and listened in the dark. I was dancing in the rain alone, Through the streets we used to own. Autumn fell and winter came, But your memory still remained. I kept moving through the cold, Learning how to walk alone. Frost drew lines across the pane, Mornings came and looked the same. One cup cooling by the stove, The radio playing soft and low. The clock kept turning through the dark, So I found ways to make a start. I was dancing in the rain alone, Making each new road my own. Winter still beneath my skin, But letting the morning light back in. I kept moving through the cold, Found a strength I didn't know. Let it freeze, Let it fall. Something living Survived it all. Then one morning something changed, Sunlight warmed the windowpane. A message lit the quiet room, Like the first small flower in bloom. Two lives meeting where they are, Neither hiding every scar. Now I'm standing in the rain, And it doesn't feel the same. Spring is opening the sky; There's a new light in your eyes. We don't know where this may go, So we'll give it room to grow. Step by step, Day by day. Two open hearts Finding their way. Windows down and music loud, Warm wind moving through the clouds. Your fingers reaching out for mine, Running them down my spine. Ordinary days shine bright When you're laughing at my side. When the leaves fall, When nights draw in, Pull me closer — Let the cold begin. We can't promise what years will do, But I can choose to stand with you. Now we're dancing in the rain, Autumn doesn't feel the same. Winter waits beyond the door, But I don't fear the cold no-more. Every season changes shape, Nothing living stays the same. When the seasons turn again, I'll find your shelter in the rain. When the seasons turn, I'll reach out for your hand. Let the cold rain fall — Together we will stand. I was dancing in the rain alone… Now I'm dancing here with you
